My Approach
My approach is practical and collaborative, grounded in methods that help increase awareness of long-standing, automatic patterns, and support gradual experimentation with new ways of relating to both our inner experience and the external world.
I work hard to understand each client’s pace and style so I can bring in the most relevant approaches and materials for where they are, moment to moment. I'm committed to ongoing training and professional consultation to ensure I continue to provide high-level, ethical care. In our sessions, you can expect a collaborative and non-judgmental atmosphere.
My Background
I'm originally from California and first moved to Japan in 2009. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in natural resource management with the U.S. Forest Service. I then worked many years as a cartographer in California and as a contractor for the U.S. Department of Defense in Tokyo and Okinawa.
Becoming a therapist was a meaningful career change, and one that I continue to feel deeply aligned with.
Since training as a therapist, I’ve worked in non-profit mental health clinics in the San Francisco Bay Area, and supported military communities through UCLA Health in Twentynine Palms and Okinawa. I’ve been in private practice in Okinawa, Japan since 2021 where I continue to serve the military community and expat community throughout Japan.
